I really want to come to the event but I’m not 18 years of age? Can’t I sign some sort of waiver and come to the game?

We’re sorry, but you must be 18 years of age by the date of the event in order to participate without restrictions. ID’s will be checked prior to checking in for the game. Any registrations from people under 18 will be voided and refunds will not be given unless these exceptions are met. Ages 16 and 17, player must have a veteran airsofter vouch for them or veteran clause be waived if your parent plays with you. Veteran status will granted if the player has attended 3 statewide ops in the past. For those coming out of state contact us first to verify veteran status if Operations attended were not in Texas. Any other questions on vet status, please contact us. You are on the honor system, please don’t cheat. You are an airsofter, you shouldn’t be cheating to begin with. Ages 15 and under must have a paid playing parent to attend. All minors 17 and under please check in together with your vouching player or parent.

What forms of acceptable ID may I use, is a library card ok?

The only accceptable forms of ID one may use are a State issued Drivers license, a State issued ID card (similar to a DL), a copy of a birth certificate, a US Govt issued Dependent’s ID card. Must show valid date of birth. No library or school ID cards will be accepted. Please be prepared show ID when checking in. FFor those minors that don’t drive yet, obtaining a State issued ID card is a good idea in general until you have obtained a Drivers license. We announced this event with plenty of time to obtain one.

Our team uniform is Woodland MARPAT / Black / Khaki / Paisley / etc. Since we’re all coming to the event , can we wear our team uniform?

We have established a pretty generous selection of uniform options for the event. Some of them are extremely common and inexpensive to purchase if you do not have them already. Being able to identify friend or foe is very important whether it’s a real world conflict or an airsoft game. We ask that players make their selection from the designated sides noted on the OP page and forum. Examples have been provided to give you an idea of what we expect.

When do I need to submit my payment for the event?

You need to submit full payment for the event upon registration. Online registration closes on the 31st of Jan 09 but sides may be capped sooner as they fill up. Be sure to register and pay for your slot ASAP to guarantee your space and preferred side for this event. Players registering/paying the day of the event must have acceptable uniforms for either side as we will put them on the side with the smaller number of players. If any attendee has an issue with payment via paypal, please notify us immediately as they can tend to be slow with resolutions. If you can not utilize paypal we can discuss other arrangments if needed. Paypal will be the preferred method of payment through the Desert Vanguard registration page.

I only have ten hi-cap magazines I play with every game and my buddy has a box mag for his M4 and he’s our SAW gunner. Are we good to go?

Normal winding hi-cap mags are good to go for rifleman/assault class AEGs. Box mags (M249, CMag types etc..) are limited to true Support replicas. We are following the official TASO list of recognized support replicas.

“Illustrative examples would be accurate replicas of the M249 & variants, M60 & variants, M240, MG42, MG34, Shrike, HK21/23, PKM, Negev, and others with the required features. Despite missing these features, the RPK will be grandfathered in with no other exceptions due to TASO history. A regular AEG assault rifle with a box mag shooting over 400fps spring level does not constitute a support weapon!”

In our backyard we all play with 500fps AEGs and we love digging BBs out of our skin after a CQB game. Since we don’t mind… can we play with these weapons?

Safety is the absolute upmost importance of this event. 20 foot engagement distance at 400 fps with a .20 gram bb is the limit for Assualt class/rifleman while proper support replicas (see above) will be permitted 450fps and a 40 foot minimum engagement distance. Sniper rifles are restricted to 550fps with a 100 foot engagement restriction. Pistols and CQB type AEGs will be limited to 350fps. All participants are encouraged to carry a pistol for sub 20 foot engagements. Surrenders should be offered first assuming a player has the opposing player DEAD TO RIGHTS. This information will be covered and clarified during the initial safety briefings.

Rules of engagement information for this event are posted here

All weapons will be chrono’d with 0.2 gram BBs and if firing too hot we will test it on another chrono to verify. A staff member will be assigned as the official chrono admin and will make the final call. A few members of the Chrono Admins staff will be on the field equipped with portable chronos and will spot check AEGs if complaints arise. Players caught with post chronoed hot guns or guns that were not chronographed prior to the game will be removed from the game with no refund given. Sponsored players parent or vouching vet will be tossed as well. Additional information on safety protocol, bb weights/muzzle energies may be referenced here.

May I play with bio or METAL BB’s?

Anyone caught playing with metal bb’s will be BANNED from future events of ours and thier names will be made public amongst all of our sister communities circles. Don’t do it. Period. .12 gram bb’s are off limits and usage of anything .20 gram and over are acceptable. Bio/Earth friendly bb’s are perfectly acceptable but not required by the field owner.

I like playing with shooting glasses. Am I good to go?

Fully sealing eye protection is required. Impact rated (meets or exceeds ANSI Z97.1 standards) fully sealed eye protection must be worn at all times on the hot side of the net. Rubber or foam should line the lenses and fit to the face. NO SHOOTING GLASSES or MESH GOGGLES allowed. Players caught in violation of this rule on the field will be removed from the game with no refund given. Any true emergencies regarding eye protection should be treated as a Blind man situation and reported to staff if the player needs to come off the field. A cease fire will be called until affected player can resolve the issue.

Full face protection is recommended but not required. Balaclava or shemags properly worn provide a great deal of full face protection. A full paintball mask that covers both your ears and mouth is a good option especially for the US side since they are restricted to no shemags or balaclavas. Please adhere to headcover rules with colors as far as face protection goes. TAN/ACU colored paintball masks are out there in the market place. Spray paint works wonders too. Solid black paintball masks are only ok only if your wearing additional headcover in the camo/tan color scheme for US or wearing any of the approved Insurgency headwear underneath it. Please refrain from brightly colored or other camoed paintball masks, especially if the color of camo is off limits from your uniform requirements.

Remember US and Insurgent headwear is mandatory. If you have any additional questions, contact us before the event. Remember black headcover is reserved for the Iraqi Police units and we wish to have no confusion on the field if you choose to use a black paintball mask. Those under the age of 16 are required to use a paintball mask I believe, we will double check with the field owner and update when known for sure.

Do I have to have a Camelbak or something similar?

A form of personal hydration system is highly recommended. If one wishes to carry canteens or bottles of water thats fine, but everyone must provide and take care of thier own personal hydration. Even in winter its extremely important in South Texas with our mild winter. Water will be provided at the regen stations on the field and staff will make thier best effort to keep them stocked. They may be dry until we can get around to them so don’t assume it will be there at any given time. Plan to hydrate early, don’t tub up the day of the game, start drinking water early. Good information on a pre op hydration plan can be found in some of the various airsoft community forums.

Is there camping on site?

Absolutely. The field has electric hookups and WiFi available. Some limited water connections. See the OP page or the forum under Area of Operations for additional lodging options as well.

How early can I arrive?

We ask that players arrive on site no earlier than 0900 on Friday, Feb 6th. Players arriving on Friday can get a head start with the onsite registration and chrono process. We ask that ALL players be onsite no later than 0700 Saturday, Feb 7th.
